Description
- Eucalyptus are evergreen trees or large shrubs, often fast-growing, some with attractive bark, most with aromatic foliage, and clusters of small, white, yellow or red flowers
- A large evergreen tree with peeling cream and brown bark. Juvenile foliage bright glaucous-blue, rounded; adult leaves elliptic or sickle-shaped, grey-green. Flowers white, in small cluster
- Grow Eucalyptus gunnii in moist but well-drained soil in a sheltered site. Prune hard annually to maintain its small habit and juvenile foliage.
- Only a few eucalyptus species are reliably hardy, and of these Eucalyptus gunnii is the most popular. Like many eucalyptus, it’s grown mostly for its lush, rounded juvenile foliage, well-loved by flower arrangers. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its prestigious Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
